Bunt Stafford Clark began his musical journey at the tender age of 7 with classical violin. Switching to drums while at school he formed a rock band with composer/guitarist Andy Roberts.

 

Continuing to develop his musical skills he worked the UK, European and North African circuits backing visiting US artists including Clyde McPhatter and Nina Simone, At the end of the 60's he began a parallel career in studios as an assistant working with Producer Micky Most on numerous projects and with a variety of other artists. Albums included Deep Purple's "Shades of Deep Purple", Jeff Beck's " Beck-Ola" and Fleetwood Mac's "Then Play On". He also played drums on "Mean Blues" recorded live in the studio for Jeremy Spencer's solo album.

 

During the 70's Bunt divided his time between playing drums as a regular session musician both in the studio and on the road and as a freelance engineer for studio and live recording. This period saw him touring with blues guitarist Gordon Smith, engineering and playing drums for multi-instrumentalist and composer Ruan O'lochlainn and as part of the band together with guitarist Adrian Legg for David McWilliams on 10CC's 1977 UK tour.

 

He started his mastering career with the Townhouse Studios shortly after the doors opened in 1979 and has been continuously involved with the studio until it's closure early in 2008. During that time he worked with hundreds of artists and mastered thousands of records in just about every conceivable form of music.

 

In 1984 he co-founded the recording arm of the world music label Triple Earth. Between 1985 and 1995 he produced and mixed albums by Najma Akhtar, Aster Aweke, Mouth Music, Ray Carless, Hukwe Zawose, Ousmane Kouyate and collaborated on recordings for many other artists.

 

Bunt has mastered albums for Embrace, Suede, Elbow, Placebo, Clinic, Graham Coxon, Doves, Thom Yorke, British Sea Power, The Magic Numbers, Brett Anderson, Alison Moyet. Katie Melua, Tom McRae, Beverley Knight, Kate Rusby, James Dean Bradfield, Lloyd Cole, Black Box Recorder, The Auteurs and The Jesus & Mary Chain ,and hit singles for Cher "I Believe" & Liberty X "Just A Little" to name but a few and has worked with top producers Steve Osbourne, Nigel Godrich, Ben Hillier, Stephen Street and many more.
